NC’s Special Assistance In-Home Program (SA-IH) helps with living expenses such as food, shelter, clothing, and other daily necessities. The checks are sent monthly to eligible individuals living at home.
If you apply and are eligible, you will now be approved without delay.
To apply for the SA-IH program, you will need your doctor to complete a FL2 form stating you require the level of care provided by an Adult Care Home.
Income limits are now the same as traditional special assistance. Your spouse’s income and assets will not affect your eligibility.
If you are found eligible for the SA-IH Program, you will automatically receive Medicaid. With Medicaid, your doctor can request in-home services like personal care services.
If you have been diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, both the income limit and monthly payment amount is substantially higher.
To apply for the SA-IH Program contact your local Department of Social Services (DSS).
